You helped us gift book packs to over 760 children... that is nearly 2,500 books!

 

Because we believe that all children should experience the joy of reading.

 

Marcus Rashford, when launching The Marcus Rashford Book Club last year shared an unbelievable statistic that over 380,000 children living in the UK have never owned a book.  

 

World Book Day’s mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Why is this important? Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income (Source: OECD)

​

While First Days includes books with every referral, we want to do more.  We believe the need is greater than ever this year with many children having reduced access to books as a result of school and library closures.
