We're here for the children who have nothing
At First Days, everything we do aims to restore dignity, choice and power to families with a low-income, three things that are so often taken away from people when they are experiencing times of hardship and do not have financial autonomy.
That is why we have chosen to change the way we support families over Christmas this year.
Last year, with help from many kind and generous supporters and businesses, we redistributed gifts and stockings to over 1,500 children. Although these children received wonderful gifts, feedback from some of the parents was that they felt oversupplied with presents and were put in a position with an unsustainable standard or expectation for future Christmases or birthdays. Taking such an impersonal decision about what a child receives reduces the value to the child and removes all choice from the parent or guardian.
Choice is so important, especially at Christmas. Many of us are lucky enough to be able to choose presents for our children that we know they will love. You may have experienced that magical feeling of seeing your child’s face light up on Christmas morning, opening a present that you have thoughtfully chosen for them.
By making a donation to First Days you are helping families do this.
We are supporting the children who need us the most.
Choice is everything and this year we want to give parents and carers the gift of choice.
Please give £25 for the one present a child will receive this Christmas.
