First Days Boutique is now CLOSED
A message from the First Days Children's Charity board:
The First Days Boutique Charity Shop has been a huge success, we’ve built a lovely community focused business, changed the way that charity shops are viewed locally, and have fantastic staff and customers.
Unfortunately, we have had to make the difficult decision to close our doors after two years of trading. Whilst the shop has been successful, the margins are too tight for us to risk continuing trading over the coming months and years. As a very small charity every single penny we raise needs to be spent wisely: helping families in need in our area. We just can’t risk having to subsidise our beloved shop in the future. The high street in Britain is under enormous pressure, and with rents and costs increasing and the uncertainty over the spending power of British people post-brexit we just can’t take the risk.
First Days charity continues to help hundreds of families every month, supported by an amazing team of volunteers and fundraisers - all of our efforts will be fully focused on this work and developing ways to help more and more families who are sadly living in poverty. There are over 40,000 children in our area who live below the poverty line and we will be here to help them for as long as they need it.
We are so grateful to Sally and Kathryn who opened the shop, Amy and Anna who have managed it so brilliantly, and the amazing staff team who have been so loyal and made the shop into what it is today. We are deeply sad to be closing our doors and we hope that one day in the future we might be able to open again elsewhere.
Thank you to all of our lovely customers. Please come and see us one last time and grab a bargain in our closing down sale! Our last day of trading will the the 27th January 2019 - everything must go - so pop in!
